#WantItWednesday (13/11/13)

Sophie Hulme

It is getting closer to the party season and I am already planning my outfit list for the plethora of Christmas parties I will be throwing and attending. For this weeks' #WantItWednesday I am focusing on one of my favourite loves. Handbags.

The go to designer for modern luxury is Sophie Hulme, famed for her 'Armour Collection' my bag of the week is the beautiful and perfect for the party season. The 'Arrow Leather Clutch' has the signature hardware of which Hulme is famed with beautiful, butter-soft black leather. It also has a secret shoulder strap for when you are ready to party hard!

The bag is not only beautiful but incredibly versatile. It can add an edge to a flirty, floral look or be endlessly chic with an all black ensemble. this will definitely be my go to option for every festive sartorial crisis. Please excuse the hyperbole but it would certainly solve all of life's problems!

#WantItWednesday (06/11/13)

It's getting colder outside and I for one am not happy about it! For this week's #WantItWednesday I am embracing layering in all of its glory. Gloves. Scarves and big, warm coats!

Product Image
These practical and elegant gloves are beautiful and classically cut, pick a pair in a brighter shade to highlight any winter outerwear combination. These make you feel like you are in 'Bringing Up Baby' and you'll find it will want to spend more time outside!

To complete the Hepburn-esque look, I tend to pair these beauties with an over-sized crombie, in either camel or navy, with a thick scarf or pashmina; with a pair of sturdy loafers or a pair of brogues. Complete winter perfection!

The best thing about these gloves are they don't break the bank! These beauties are from M&S and are only £17.50, every reason to buy them as all four colours they have available. Get them while you can!

Sartorial Spotlight: Carven

Whenever I think about understated Parisian elegance, my first thought is always Carven.

Chic, well cut and always stylish this is a label, much like the city that created it makes me want to spend the rest of my life, in a Café in Montmartre drinking wine and eating cheese for the rest of eternity.

Founded in the golden age of haute couture, even before the 'New Look' took over the sartorial horizon; a small, forward thinking couture house launched the 'Ma Griffe' A simple striped green & white dress that instantly took hold of the global fashion community's imagination.

Carven's aesthetic was simple: an effortless, fresh and spontaneous approach to clothing; an aesthetic that is still at the forefront of Guillaume Henry's mind with each collection.

The AW13 collection is fresh & light; an actual breath of fresh air in the ever decreasing climes. Cotton candy blue & pink cuts through the entire collection, a colour of the moment and a perfect hue to accentuate the frost bitten cheeks that are inherent with the winter months.
The coats look inviting and easy to wear, perfect for a lunch with the girls in the afternoon or concealing a striking LBD at the Christmas party.

It is remarkable that the collections that Henry brings out season after season are modern in design, while simultaneously and consistently alluding to the silhouettes of Madame Carven; created nearly 70 years ago.

My personal favourite for AW13 is the bouclĂ© wool coat in pink. It is beautifully over-sized and can be dressed down with a Breton stripe shirt and jeans for everyday or dressed up with an ever chic sleeved shift dress for an evening (with or without opaque tights). This collection and the brand will forever be on my 'Want List' and I will always look forward to each season, almost as much as I look forward to Christmas Eve.
